Maurice Hartley Obituary

Maurice L. HartleyBig Moe” was born on June 8, 1966 to the late Herbert Hartley, Sr. and Ellen Marie Hartley in Jacksonville, Florida. He spent his entire life in the Mandarin area. Maurice graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School where he played football, baseball and was on the wrestling team.

Maurice was employed by Sherrod Vans for over fifteen years until the company went out of business. He then obtained his CDL License and became a truck driver.

Maurice was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Florida State Seminoles fan. His favorite past time was bowling. He bowled in several bowling leagues and participated in local, state and national bowling tournaments. He bowled multiple perfect 300 games.

Maurice was the rock of the family. He always put his parents and family members before himself. He was the youngest sibling but acted like the big brother.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ellen Hartley; sisters, Martha Cody and Carolyn “Tubby” Murphy; and brother-in-law, Tony Murphy.

Maurice leaves to cherish his memory five brothers, Marvin Hartley (Roxanne), Sherman Hartley (Maureen), Keith Hartley (Tammy), Rudy Hartley (Jennifer) and Elvis Hartley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends. He is also survived by some very special people dear to his heart, Dan Sykes and Cathy Kim. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
