Maurice was born September 23, 1949 to the late Mackadoo and Ethel McClendon. He attended the public schools in Duval County and graduated from Douglas Anderson High School, Class of 1968.
He was united in holy matrimony to Elizabeth Faye Simpo October 3, 1970. He was employed with Jax Utilities later known as Haskell Construction Company for 30 years until his retirement.
Maurice was preceded in death by his brothers, Mack Jr, Morris (his twin), and Woodrow McClendon; and three sisters, Edna Jackson, Lillie Knight and Helen McCloud.
Maurice leaves to cherish fond memories his devoted wife of 50 years, Elizabeth McClendon; two sons, Maurice McClendon, Jr. and Korey McClendon (Deneshia); two daughters Seanda Hines (Kenneth) and Soarve O’Neal (Quantez)’ thirteen grands, Antonio, Brandi, Brandon, Dezshaune, Brianna, Heaven, Jerome, Saysha, Britney, Shanaia, Khamani, Jala and Jaden; eight great-grands; one brother, Charlie McClendon (Ida); seven sisters-in-law, Sandra McClendon, Gloria Christopher (Earl), Janice Grogan (Reginald), Inez Newman, Sue Simpo, Mary Simpo and Bobbie Simpo; one brother-in-law, Curtis Simpo; and a host of nieces and nephews and many sorrowing friends including, Eddie Chance, Henry Jones, Porsha Driscol, Madia Sheppard, Henry Walker and special cousin, Janice Scott.
