Mc Arthur Harvey, Sr. was born on April 20. 1949 in Savannah, Georgia to Daisy Bradley Myhand and Jerod Harvey, Sr. As a child, he attended Miller Swamp Missionary Baptist Church in Sycamore, South Carolina. He was educated in the schools of Allendale County, to include Fairfax Training School.
Upon graduation, he relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, and made the city his home. For those who knew him, he embodied the spirit of a true “Florida Boy”. “Jackie”, as he was affectionately known was a lover of cars. He was a known Cadillac enthusiast and had the collection of jackets to prove it! On any given day, you were guaranteed to see him washing cars at his residence.
Jackie was an exceptionally dressed man, who took pride in his appearance. He was gifted with his hands and worked many jobs as a heavy equipment operator. At the time of his passing, he was a dedicated employee of D.B. Civil Construction.
“Jackie” was preceded in death by, his sons, Vincent Harvey and McArthur Harvey, Jr.; his parents, Jarod Harvey, Sr. and Daisy B. Myhand; his sister, Ruby (Robert Lee) Thompson; and a special aunt, Rosean B. Robinson.
McArthur leaves to cherish his memory, two beloved children, a daughter, Shantel’a Harvey; a son, Rodney Stewart; grandchildren, Mar’Quest Spruill, Mar’Kaylan Harvey, Mar’Shawn Spruill, and Rajah Harvey; one great-grandchild, Alaya Renee Spruill; sisters, Patricia Roberts (Leroy), Yvonne Smith (John), Theresa Taylor (Larry), and Deloris McPherson (Richard); brothers, Walker Myhand (Debra), Jerod Harvey, Jr., Maurice Duhart, and Jimmy Harvey; longtime friend, Willie Jones; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family members, friends, and co-workers.
