Michael Bernard Dawson

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Michael Bernard Dawson Sr. went home to be with the Lord. He transitioned peacefully, surrounded by the people he loved most. Michael B. Dawson was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His life was filled with love, adventure, and countless memories shared with those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Born on June 21, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida, Michael was the second oldest out of five siblings. He was born to Mable Lane Blanco and Samuel Bernard Dawson, and often shared memories of the time he spent with his family. Always being an adventurous spirit, his journey started at sixteen as a Merchant Marine. He fondly recalled being able to travel the world and experiencing various cultures. The lessons he learned as a Merchant Marine travelled with him throughout his lifetime.

Michael eventually settled in Los Angeles, California and completed his high school degree. He then began to start his own family, who were his pride and joy. His beloved children are Aisha, Michael II, and Joi.

A dedicated provider and hard worker, Michael built a successful career spanning more than thirty years. He became a Mason on June 23, 1999, and was King of Tyre Lodge no.3. He retired in 2005 as a Production Supervisor for Meadwestvaco. But even with his multitude of accomplishments, his greatest joy came from being a father and a grandfather. He was a constant source of warmth and love. He was known for having the gift of bringing happiness and joy into every single room he entered.

Family was of utmost importance to Michael. He cherished each moment spent with his dear ones. In 2020, he moved to Dallas, Texas with his eldest daughter, Aisha, and returned to Jacksonville, Florida in 2022 where he found love and married Patricia Williams, who eventually became Patrica Williams-Dawson. With Patricia by his side, he gained a bonus daughter, Erica; in-laws, Larry (Mariah), Dorothy, Roy, Earl, and Juanita (Dennis), he embraced new experiences, travelled, and lived life to the absolute fullest.

As he transitioned, he was awaited by his brother Gary and his sister Patricia, who were fondly called ‘Pug’ and ‘Patty.

He leaves his memory to cherish with his loving wife, Patricia Williams-Dawson; his mother, Mable; his brothers, Wayne, Mark (who he lovingly called ‘Sport’), and Tony alongside their wives Judy, Denise, and Melanie; his children, Aisha, Michael II, and Joi; his grandchildren, Kameron, Jada, Kaleb, Kennedy, Kevin, and Rondell Jr. (“Little”); along with a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Michael’s legacy will live on through the love he gave, the countless lives he touched, and most importantly, the memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and adored him.
