Michael Hill Obituary

Michael Randolph Hill, born March 8, 1964, in Tifton, Georgia, passed away at home in Jacksonville, Florida, on April 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Hill, Sr. and Ruby Lillian Hill.

Michael had a deep love for sports, especially football, and was known for his remarkable presence both on and off the field. During his years playing at Wolfson High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, he created many of his most cherished memories.

Beyond athletics, Michael was known for his gift of conversation. He could effortlessly strike up a meaningful exchange with a stranger. He was a talented craftsman with a creative vision and a wonderful sense of humor. In his free time, he enjoyed walking along the beach and river, spending time with animals, and embracing the outdoors. A true craftsman at heart, he expressed his creativity through woodworking and by designing and hand-sewing leather handbags for his daughters.

Michael graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. He dedicated his professional life to public safety and service, holding roles as a Group Treatment Leader at Nassau Halfway House, a Juvenile Probation Officer with the Department of Juvenile Justice, an educator at SOS Charter Middle School, and a Child Safety Investigator with the Department of Children and Families. In one of his most selfless roles, he later provided live-in care for both of his parents until their passing.

Michael will be remembered as a loving father, a natural jokester, and someone who found joy in working with his hands. His stories, laughter, generous spirit, and presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.

His most devoted role was that of a proud and committed father to his daughters, Meghan A. Arvelo (Mel) and Courtney B. Hill. He is also survived by his former wife, Venitta Hill; his brothers, Louis T. Hill, Jr. (Kaye) and Quan M. Hill; his nieces and nephew, Kaitlyn A. Hill, Dylan L. Hill, and Mackenzie T. Hill; his great-nephews, Carter L. Huffman and Matisse M. T. Huffman; as well as a host of other loving relatives and many dear friends.

Michael’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing him.
