Minerva Maria Jones affectionately known as ‘Fred” was born on April 24, 1936 to the late Johnny Jones, Sr. and Viola Jones in Jacksonville, Florida. She grew up on the Southside of Jacksonville and attended the local schools of Duval County attending Douglas Anderson High School. Early in life she met and married Edward Brown and to this union twelve children were born.
God saw fit to send His angel of death into the room of Minerva Jones Brown-Platt with its love and tender care to relieve her from the troubles of this world. On Tuesday Morning, November 17, 2020, Minerva Jones Brown-Platt entered into her eternal rest to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Viola Jones; husband, Edward Brown; sons, Charles Brown and Michael Brown; daughter, Cathy Brown; six sisters, Helen Jones, Sarah Jones, Elouse Jones (Mutt), Elizabeth Hall (Betty), Julia Haywood (Freda) and Dorthey Jones (Dot); four brothers, Johnny Jones, Jr. (Buddy), J.C. Jones (J Poppa), Alford Jones (Her Twin) and Henry Jones; and one grandson, Nakil Bland.
Fred leaves to mourn her passing but to cherish her memories, her children, James Brown (Cheryl), Dan Brown (Cecilia), Sharon Wilson, Maria Annette Copeland, Angela Brown, Vanessa Brown, Sylvia Brown, Alonzo Brown (Theresa) and Patricia Bates (Anthony); grandchildren, Shephanie Mann, James Taylor (Latonya), LaTeshia Taylor, Keyshawn Jones, Dan Jones (Rogina), Lavar Brown, Clint Copeland, Minerva Brown, Natasha Jones, Sherylette Johnson, Alonda Linder (Lonnie), Christopher Minor (Maricar), Shanell Brown, Carnell Brown, Nicole Johnson, Shawntell Brown, Markesia Herring, Michael Brown, Brianna Brown, Walden Brown, Alonna Brown, Catherine Brown, Alonzo Brown, Jr., Lysander Moeolo and Mauricio Moeolo; forty-two great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Brown, Ernie Mae Jones, Jennifred Douglas, Gwendaline Brown, Rose Shanks, Theresa Lewis, Ernestine Platt and Elizabeth Platt (Liz); brothers-in-law, Otis Haywood (Hopi), Eugene Platt, Curtis Platt and Ellis Platt; godchildren, Sammie Lee Jackson and Charlene Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
