Mother Aronia McIntyre Obituary

Aronia Wells-McIntyre was born November 25, 1934, to the late Willie Mae Wells-Drummond and James C. Wells in Miami, Florida. With her father serving in the United States Military, Aronia resided in Petersburg, Virginia, Miami, Florida and Panama City, Florida, before settling in Jacksonville, Florida in 1950 with her parents. After relocating to Jacksonville, Aronia matriculated through the Duval County Public Schools system, graduating from Stanton High School in 1953. She was united in marriage on February 12, 1955, to the late Charlie J. McIntyre; later pursuing a college education at Florida Junior College (now Florida State College at Jacksonville). In 1965, she earned an Associate of Science degree in Nursing, subsequently embarking on a rewarding 34-year career at Baptist Medical Center, as a Registered Nurse. During her distinguished career in healthcare, Aronia also gained valuable experiences through various pursuits, including community service with First Coast Habitat for Humanity, horticulture, crafting, knitting, and cooking. Her foremost interests, however, were teaching Sunday School and music.

Aronia’s strong love for God developed upon giving her life to Christ as a faithful member of First-Born Temple Church of the Living God a.k.a. “Greater Hill’s Temple”, under the pastorate of the late Bishop Albert Hill. She was a dedicated member of Choir #2 at Greater Hill's for numerous years and was often featured in recitals. Aronia would later join her mother and family at The Greater Sunday Morning Spiritual House of Prayer where she would continue serving musically as the Director of the Combined Choirs, the “Heavenly Angels” (Adult Choir), and “The Miracle Singers” (Young Adult Choir). Withal, Aronia would also join a community choir music initiative then housed at the Shiloh Baptist Church, under the direction of the late Verdell Jakes. She found joy in singing and appreciating beautiful music, which inspired her to further explore song lyrics through scripture.

Aronia devoted herself to studying God's word and started spreading the uplifting message of Jesus Christ. From this, she enthusiastically indoctrinated the bible for the Adult Sunday School class, with passion and insight to her teachings, fostering a welcoming and relatable atmosphere for everyone. She was ordained as a Licensed Missionary in the 1980’s, by the late, Pastor Willie Mae Drummond and subsequently as Diocese Missionary of Spiritual House of Prayer, Inc. by Bishop Randy Williams of Panama City, Florida.

Aronia was not only a valued mentor as a Sunday School teacher, nurse, and choir director, she also passionately supported women who were in pursuit of academic and professional advancement, guiding and empowering them to reach remarkable achievements. The legacy she leaves is reflected in her invaluable contributions to her family and community, as well as the lasting values she imparted to her children—an inheritance to be cherished for generations.

Aronia dedicated herself to her faith and cared deeply for those around her. She uplifted others with her joyful spirit and heartfelt prayers, touching many lives through her generosity and kind deeds. Aronia was not motivated by public recognition; instead, she believed in inaudibly dedicating her time and resources to various causes, making a significant impact on many lives. Her life reflects the abundant grace of God shown to everyone who finds joy in His word. Her essence, as a beloved mother and devoted woman of God, will forever be remembered by the lives she touched.
