Mrs. Eddie Iola Green was born on January 16, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois. On Thursday, July 2, 2026, she peacefully entered eternal rest at the remarkable age of 95 years old.
Mrs. Green’s life was a testament to love, strength, resilience, and faith. Throughout her long and beautiful journey, she devoted herself to her family and was a guiding light for generations. As a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she poured wisdom, care, and unconditional love into the lives of those blessed to know her.
Over her lifetime, Mrs. Green witnessed tremendous changes in the world, yet her commitment to family never changed. She was the matriarch of a family whose roots run deep and whose branches continue to grow because of the foundation she helped build.
Her kindness, wisdom, grace, and enduring spirit touched countless lives. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who carry her love in their hearts. “Mama” was truly the matriarch of her family, loved by her community and never met a stranger.
Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate a life richly lived and a woman deeply loved. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn her legacy six daughters, Matchely Only, Kaza Mclendon, Yola Williams, Pawaska Ellis, Miyoke Duncan, and Nika Everett (Greg); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as friends of the family.
