On January 22, 1922, God released an angel into the world. Loraine was born to Theodore Edwards and Gertrude Ingram. She grew up in Crystal River, Florida and attended the Citrus County Public Schools. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior early in life.
In 1940 she moved to Jacksonville, Florida and worked in the housekeeping industry. In 1946 she met, fell in love and married Eddie Duncan. The union lasted thirty-six years until the Lord called him home. Loraine lived in home in Jacksonville for seventy-three years.
She was a member of Faust Temple Church of God in Christ from 1969 to 2004, where she served in the Music Department as a singer. Her last membership was with Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where she used the many talents that the Lord blessed her with. She was Church Mother, a Deaconess, singer, and pianist for the Angel Choir. She also was a member of the Sinai Sisters in Christ, President of Senior Women, and many other duties. Whatever her hands found to do she did it unto the Lord. She affectionately known as the senior mother in stilettos. She will be greatly missed.
The days of our years are threescore and ten, but God’s grace, He blessed Loraine with 101 years. On Saturday, March 18, 2023 God called his servant home to rest. Her memory lives on through her sister, Elizabeth Jane Ashcraft; nieces, Gertrude Long, Gwendell Kelly, Karen M. Kelly-Jenkins (James, Katrina Dingle (Tony), Darcie Thomas, and Karla Shaw; nephews, Ben Coleman, Jr., Ralph Long (Ava), Anthony Kelly (Tangie), and Solomon Burley; cousin, Eunice Williams; goddaughter, Calvania White, Jewel Grant, Della Walthour, Terrilyn Brooks, Mary, Mia, and Holly Eiss; caregiver, Wallette Gundy; and a host of family and friends.
