Louise Hartley was born on July 2,1933 to the late Giles and Andrew Mae Hartley. She was the eight-child born to their union of nine. The baby girl of the bunch, but made sure that she was there to help take care of them all.
Louise was a lifelong resident of the old Mandarin. One of the last elders left. She was baptized and grew up as a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Mandarin. Later in life she became a member of Phillip R. Cousin A.M.E. Once relocating to Morris Manor enjoying her time and friendship with her sister/friend Fannie Gates she fellowshipped at African Universal Baptist Church. Where she was affectionately known as "Mother Hartley".
Louise was known for being one of the "Best Cooks" there ever was. And let's not forget the best "Pineapple Kool-Aid" maker eva!! She found joy in preparing large meals. Sharing the great taste of her "Southern Soul Food" with all that came in contact with her. Her style of dress was flawless. Such a classy and sassy soul she was. She most definitely earned the right to be called the "World's Best Mother/Grannie and loved by so many as "Nana".
Louise was preceded in death by her son, Lester "Fly" Hartley; her parents, Giles and Andrew Mae Hartley; and all of her siblings, Idella, Clyde, Alveta, Landis, Robert, Margaret, Herbert and Cleveland.
