Mother Mary Leach-Parker Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Leach Parker, affectionately known as “Lou Lou” and “Mary Lou,” was born on October 27, 1933, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Willie Mae Smith. She peacefully departed this life surrounded by the love and memories of her family and friends.

Mary was baptized at an early age at Bethany Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Wilcox. She attended A. L. Lewis Elementary School and Old Stanton High School.

Mary was a hardworking and dedicated woman who retired after many years of faithful service with Painters, Cargill, and Tyson Food Service Corporation. Her strong work ethic and caring spirit touched many throughout her life.

In 1970, Mary began attending Holy Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop C. D. Kinsey. She was a faithful and loving member who deeply loved Sunday School and served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, sharing wisdom, encouragement, and the Word of God with others. Later in life, she attended Westside Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Gary Hall, where she remained a devoted member, faithfully attending until her health declined. To God be the Glory!

Mary found joy in cooking for her family and loved spending Saturday mornings visiting community yard sales with her beloved cousin, Marilyn Byrd. Her warm smile, loving heart, and nurturing spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Smith and her brother, Willie Mungin Jr. (Katherine).

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving children, Faye Parker, Shirley Parker, and Paul Parker; her beloved granddaughters, Pakethia McDaniel and Phelecia Parker; her devoted brother, Robert Mungin (Geneva); her nephew, Manvel Mungin (Monica) and a host of cherished first cousins including Jacquelyn Smith, Glenda Jenkins, Gary Smith (Theresa), and Glorianne Martin. And her dedicated caregiver, Blossom White. She also leaves behind caring neighbors, many special friends, extended family members, and loved ones whose lives were blessed by her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.

Mary’s legacy of faith, love, devotion, and service will continue to live through all who were blessed to know her.
