Mother Rosa Weaver Obituary

Mother Rosa Lee Weaver was born on May 6, 1926, in Shellman, Georgia, to the late Miley Jenkins and James Saffore. She later became a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida, where she built a life rooted in faith, family and service.

Mother Weaver was united in Holy Matrimony to her beloved husband, Charlie Weaver, for fifty-six years. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her thirteen siblings.

Mother Weaver was a faithful and dedicated member of Faust Temple Church of God in Christ for many years. She served diligently as a devoted Missionary and Sunday School Teacher, always committed to spreading the Word of God. As a leader of the prayer band, she guided a group of faithful women who provided spiritual support and service whenever needed. Her love for the church was evident in her unwavering commitment; she made it her mission to be present every time the church doors opened. Known for her warm spirit, she greeted everyone with a loving hug that made all feel welcomed and cherished.

Mother Weaver has a passion for travel and adventure. Even in the later years, her enthusiasm for life never faded. In 2025 alone, she enjoyed six trips, her bags were always packed, and whenever the opportunity arose, she would joyfully say, “I’m ready to go.”

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, called Mother Weaver home, taking from among us our beloved angel and matriarch. Though she is no longer with us physically, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion.

Mother Weaver leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted daughter and caregiver, Jacqueline Bright; her loving grandsons, Aaron Bright and Brandon Bright; and her great-grandson, Braylon Bright. She also is lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She shared a special bond with her goddaughter, Carrie Russell (James); additional caretakers, Melanese Way (Major), Ivy Howard, and Dolly Byers (Larry); spiritual son and daughter, Pastor Alphonso Carter (Joyce); longtime devoted friend, Mother Cleo Vinning; and spiritual daughters, Gwen Sullivan and Ethel Goodman (Jesse).

Mother Weaver’s life was a testament to unwavering faith, love for family and service to others. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and her memory will forever be cherished.
