Mozetta Taylor Obituary

Mozetta Jewell Taylor, 90 was born April 14, 1935, in Holly Springs, Mississippi to the late Mosby and Walker L. Seldon Evans.  She was the fifth of nine children born to that union.  She attended Marshall County Schools in Tennessee until she moved to Kentucky. In 1950 she relocated to Waterloo, Iowa where she met and married Stephen Taylor.

Mozetta was a homemaker in which she managed her household including gardening, visiting family, caring for children and later her grandchildren.

Having early roots in the church and Godly influences in her life, Mozetta accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed church services that were uplifting and encouraging with good worship and lifechanging messages.

Mozetta enjoyed talking on the phone with her sisters and aunts, spending time with her family and traveling. In her later years, Mozetta spent time listening to Gospel hymns, reading her Bible and talking about her life growing up with her siblings in Mississippi. She also loved a good home cooked meal, and often said the times she did get into trouble was behind food!

Mozetta leaves to cherish in loving memories: survived by one brother, Pastor Emeritus OG Evans (Evangelist Eartha Evans, 1934-2014) of Waterloo, Iowa; two sons, Reverand Dr. Bayard Taylor (Claudia Taylor) of Chesterfield, Virgina and Mitchell Taylor (Karen Taylor) of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Rochele Taylor of St. Augustine, Florida and Candace Taylor of Lake Elsinore, California; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Mozetta was preceded in death by her father, Mosby Evans; mother, Walker Evans; brothers, Arthur Evans, AD Evans, and Leroy Evans; sisters, Carlean Taylor and Ozelle Evans; and two sons, Maurice Taylor and Clayton Taylor.

Mozetta Jewell Taylor was baby sister, cherished mother, devoted grandmother, esteemed great grandmother, faithful Great-Great Grandmother, but most importantly Mozetta was God’s daughter.
