Noel Neal Simmons was born on February 27, 1963, to James Simmons and Mandy Neal. He was the middle child of seven children, known for being protective, reserved, and family oriented. Noel committed his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at West Union Baptist Church.
Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Noel completed his education with Duval County Public Schools. From a young age, Noel was captivated by the elaborate workings of engines and the beauty of cars, a passion inherited from his father. This passion led him to become a skilled mechanic, known in the neighborhood as the go to guy for repairs. He was one of the first in the community to do window tinting in the 90’s. His natural talents brought him a slew of customers, where many became lifelong friends. He was a skilled, self-taught mechanic and handyman, there was nothing he couldn’t do when it came to his hands. He was also known for his car collections over the years; he had some of the most unique cars and fanciest rims.
In addition to his mechanical expertise, he also held other roles. In the 90’s he worked at Anheuser Bush for several years; he managed his family-owned car wash “New Attitudes” and worked alongside his family at Jenkins BBQ. Thereafter, he devoted many years of his career as a dedicated Tile Layer with Moyer Marble and Tile Company and later worked as a shuttle driver, until his untimely passing. Noel was never late and never missed a day of work. His exceptional manual skills were evident in all aspects of his career.
Noel was a jack of all trades and a lover of music. In his pastime, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving convertible cars. Noel was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend, always supporting and showing up for those close to him.
Noel was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mandy Neal Simmons (1993); and his brothers, Anthony Simmons (2024), Robert Simmons (2025) and Kenneth Simmons (2000).
He is survived by his sisters, Audrey Kempt (Greg) and Maria Simmons; brother, James Simmons (Joyce); uncles Claude Simmons (Gwendolyn) and Ronald Neal (Carolyn); aunts, Mattie Leggett and Carolyn Simmons; nieces, Andrea Jackson (Gary), Tomeka Simmons (Antoine), Latrice Kempt-Leshoure (Michael), Latia Myers (Tyree), and Leondra Simmons; nephews, Brandon Simmons (Crystal), Robert Simmons, II, James K. Simmons, and Tyler Fann-Simmons; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
