Nolan Lenard Martin was born September 11, 1972 to D’Artagnan Athos and Beverly McIntosh Martin in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Duval County Public Schools; graduating from Jean Ribault Senior High School in 1990. He furthered his education, attending Florida Community College of Jacksonville and Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee.
He was a member of Greater Grant Memorial AME Church where he participated in the weekly Sunday school sessions. As a young child, he found pleasure in reciting Easter and Christmas speeches.
Nolan was well rounded in all sports. To some, he was known as “Spud Webb” for his small stature yet mighty jumping abilities in basketball. He was an avid tennis player and golf champion. He demonstrated a combination of technical skills and mental toughness with much confidence to conquer any task. These attributes assisted him in caring for his devoted mother.
Nolan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Levi H McIntosh, Sr. and Annie M. McIntosh; and his paternal grandparents, George Martin and Naomi Martin of New Orleans, Louisiana.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents, Beverly McIntosh Hall of Jacksonville, Florida and D’Artagnan Martin of New Orleans, Louisiana; two beautiful daughters, Sha’Tique L. Martin of Jacksonville, Florida and Jazmine J. Bowser of Atlanta, Georgia; one handsome grandson, Shaquille Johnson, Jr.; and a host of relatives and friends both near and far.
