Pearlie Mae Andrews was born November 16, 1933 in Yellow Bluff, AL to the late Reverend John Deere and Louvenia King Deere. She was the youngest of four children. On Friday, April 22, 2022, at 9:03 a.m., she slipped away to be with our Lord and Savior.
In 1948, Pearlie married the late David Millender. To this union three children were born. In the mid 1950’s, the family relocated to Pensacola, FL for a better life and job opportunities. However, in 1976 the marriage was dissolved. In 1984, she united in holy matrimony with the late Deacon Wilson Andrews until his death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Millender, Jr.; grandson, Eric Millender; son-in-law, Alfred Ogden, Sr.; granddaughter, Tanieta Ogden Shuler; sister, Lillie Jane Nix, and other siblings.
Pearlie was a kind-hearted, happy, friendly, compassionate, loving, and caring person. She was a good mother and gave her all to her family. Her faith was unwavering throughout life's challenges, and her illness--trusting and believing in the will of God.
She had a successful career at West Florida Medical Clinic where she worked as Supervisor of Environmental Services for more than ten years. Over the years, she was admired for her leadership, hard-work, and work ethics by fellow employees.
Pearlie was a faithful and devoted member of Englewood Missionary Baptist Church for over five decades. While there, she served as president of the Gospel Chorus for many years; sang with the city-wide revival choir, and taught Sunday School lessons. She was also an active member of the Deaconess Ministry and the Mission Board.
Upon moving to Jacksonville in 2010 to be closer to her family, Pearlie joined Hopewell, formerly First Baptist Church of Mandarin with Dr. Gary L. Williams, Sr., Senior Pastor. She had a strong desire to serve in ministry, especially to sing with the Inspirational Voices. Pearlie attended worship services regularly and participated in church events and activities until her health declined.
Pearlie leaves to cherish her memory: devoted daughter and caregiver, Shirlie Ogden of Jacksonville, FL; son, Johnny Millender (Faye) of Lawton, OK; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Millender of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Stacey Howard (Clifford) of Lawton, OK, Keutoria Millender, David Chaz Millender (Brittanie), Alfred Ogden, Jr. all of Jacksonville, FL, Karen Hughley and Darren Hughley Pensacola, FL; twenty-three great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; niece, Minnie Blackmon of Niagara Falls, NY; nephew, Clarence Nix of Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada; devoted friends, Helen Powell and Cynthia Martin of Pensacola, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
