Purnell Brown, Jr., a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on September 10, 1964, in Jacksonville, Florida, Purnell's life was one marked by strength, resilience, and an unwavering love for his family.
Despite the challenges he faced with his health, Purnell’s spirit shone brightly. He was a proud graduate of Passaic County Technical Vocational School, where he cultivated a passion for learning and personal growth. Purnell had a great love for football, often sharing his enthusiasm for the game with family and friends. He found joy in watching and attending movies, and he relished the thrill of gambling, especially during family gatherings. Above all, Purnell treasured the time spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
Purnell was the cherished son of Purnell Brown, Sr. and Myrtle Brown. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, as well as his grandmother, Connie Norman, and grandfather, Robert Norman, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a cherished group of uncles and aunts, including Robert Norman, Jr., Carl Norman, Clifford Norman, Dwayne Norman, and Darryl Norman, along with Mary Johnson, Betty Hayward, Constance Grimsley, and Edna Gardner. Their memories will forever live on through the lives they touched, including Purnell’s.
Purnell is survived by his loving mother, Myrtle Brown; siblings, Sam Brown (Stephanie), Craig Brown, and Dr. Angel Brown (John), who will carry his spirit in their hearts. He is also survived by aunts, Estelle Brydon, Alice Cooper, and Tami Harris, along with a multitude of loving family members and friends whose lives he touched in profound ways.
As we remember Purnell, we celebrate his vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and the laughter he brought into our lives. He had a remarkable ability to uplift those around him, always providing comfort and support whenever it was needed. His determination and resilience in the face of adversity served as an inspiration to all who knew him.
Though Purnell Brown, Jr. has departed from this world, his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those he has reunited with in the afterlife.
