SR Raymond "Ray" Myers Ivey, 72, journeyed to heaven on December 28, 2021. He was born to Myers Raymond Hicks and Jolita Gloria Ivey in Jacksonville, Florida on January 17, 1949. He was the youngest of five children. Raymond was raised by his grandmother, Francina Ivey (deceased). Raymond was well known for his happy personality, bright smile, and bear hugs.
He was married to Jonnie Lovett Ivey and they lived together in Jacksonville, Florida. Together they raised 4 children. Raymond loved his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated father. He doted on his children and was involved in many of his children's activities.
Seaman Recruit (E1) Ivey served his country for 2 years in the Naval Training Center (NTC), Great Lakes of the United States Navy.
Raymond worked as a construction laborer in the 1970s and later owned a landscaping company. He loved to travel with his children. Raymond was a lover of good food. His son and daughter often made meals for him. He loved fruitcake and sweet potato pie.
The world has suffered a great loss and Raymond will be extremely missed. He avidly donated to various charities and organizations. He received many awards and accolades from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and American Legion.
Raymond leaves to celebrate his final salute, his partner, Johnnie Mae Ivey; four children, Tyakeia Nicole Spangelo (Sgt. Jeremy Spangelo, United States Army) of Rome, GA, Myers Raymond Hicks Lovett Ivey of Jacksonville, FL, Joanna Ivey of Jacksonville, FL, and Brittany Ivey of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Evelyn Jenkins (deceased), Joyce Alexander (Charles) and Yvonne Jackson (Leonard) of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Anthony Ivey (Pamcelia) of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Zaileygh Xiomayah Spangelo, King Jones, Princess Jones, and Meghan Jones; only living aunt, Huldah " Liz" Shaw (Marvin); a devoted cousin, Jayne Clarissa Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and acquaintances.
