Reginald Gantt Obituary

Reginald Eldrige Gantt, known and loved by family and friends as “Reggie”, was born February 2, 1985, in Jacksonville, Florida, and his life was unexpectedly taken on April 6, 2026, in Middleburg, Florida, at the age of forty-one.

From the time he was a boy, Reggie carried himself like a leader. He was independent, hardworking, and bold in a way that let you know early on he was going to make his own decisions and walk his own path. He had a gift with his hands and spent much of his childhood building things, putting bikes together, and working alongside his grandfather, Herbert Eldridge Gantt Jr., a true jack of all trades who took Reggie under his wing and poured into him. Reggie carried his grandfather’s name as his own middle name, and he carried his grandfather’s spirit in the way he worked, the way he built, and the pride he took in doing things with his own two hands.

Reggie was a provider above all else. He went above and beyond for the people he loved, sometimes putting himself in harm’s way to make sure his family had stability. But the center of his world, the deepest love he ever felt in this life, was his daughter, Re’niyah Talia Gantt, his Niyah. Becoming her father was one of his proudest accomplishments, and she gave him a reason to live and a reason to build. Everything he did, every plan he made, every dream he chased, came back to her. He had purchased land and was working to build something lasting in her name, a foundation for her future and a legacy for her to stand on. There was nothing he would not do for his daughter, and anyone who knew Reggie knew that to be true.

His siblings knew him as a brother who showed up. All you had to do was call. Whatever was within his means, he would do, and he never made you feel like you were asking too much. That was just who Reggie was to the people he claimed as his own.

Reggie had a personality that filled the room, and at the center of it was his smile. He was always smiling, even when he was facing adversity. Life threw plenty at him, and still, that smile stayed. It was one of the truest things about him, the way he refused to let hardship take the light off his face. He was charismatic and strong, and he carried a resilience that allowed him to bounce back from any situation life put in front of him. He had certain sayings that were just his, the kind of phrases that made you laugh not because of the words but because of how he said them. “Tell me I’m wrong.” And that drawn out “whaaaattttttt” that anyone who loved him can still hear in their head right now. That was Reggie. He loved the finer things in life and he did not apologize for it. He loved cars, going from fixing them up with custom wheels and big sound systems in his younger days to dreaming of something greater as he got older. That dream became real when he purchased his Porsche, a moment that meant more than the car itself. It was proof of what he had built and what he was still building. He carried himself with that same care in everything, sharp outfits, nice jewelry, the kind of man who took pride in how he showed up in the world.

Through all of it, Reggie had a Christ consciousness that anchored him. He had a respect for right and wrong, for godly principles, and he often turned to the Bible to study and stay grounded. No matter where life took him, that spiritual foundation was there.

Reggie was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mellonee Faye Gantt, who passed on December 26, 2005.

Reggie leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Re’niyah Talia Gantt; his stepsons, D’Andre Antonio Hendricks and Giovanni McCullough; his wife, Victoria Talia McCullough; his father, Willie Wims Sr.; his maternal siblings, Keneta Lafaye Gantt and Anthony Christopher Gantt; his paternal siblings, Anastasia “Stacey” Degraffread, Misty James (Terrance), Jazzlyn Wims, Alacia Wims, Latoya Copeland (Thomas), Nathaniel Osten, Chancellor Wims, Josiah Wims, and Willie Wims Jr.; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry his name forward.
