Reuben was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 24, 1950 to the union of Reuben Barnett, II and Lillie Mae Barnett. He accepted Christ at a young age, he attended William Raines High School where he was an All-Star Basketball Player.
Reuben was also a guitarist for his church. He loved boating, fishing, motor cycling and he could get the attention of anyone with his Barry White Voice which sparked a flame in Tommie.
He has a successful and long tenure of employment with myriad of companies, his last job of 17 years was with the United States Postal Services, from which he retired in 2002.
Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben Barnett, II and Lille Mae Barnett; a brother, Edward Barnett; sons, Stephen Barnett, and Roderick Barnett.
Reuben leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Thomasena Barnett; children, Reuben Barnett, IV (Michelle), Yolanda Baggs and Joseph Barnett (Brandi); sisters, Jacquelyn Peters and Claudette Lively; brother, James Barnett; sisters-in-law, Nadell Benjamin (Clarence), Cathy Day (Freddie) and Sabrina Osborne (William); brothers-in-law, Jacky Johnson (Carolyn) Gaylon Johnson and Thomas Waters (Iprima); grandchildren, Reuben Barnett V, Kayla Barnett, Zariah, Rashard, G.G.; his protector, Bella Barnett; a special friend to Reuben and Tommie, whom he called his daughter, Reauchean Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
