A man of integrity, family-oriented, loving, caring: a few adjectives that best describe Reverend Robert Williams. Robert was given his wings on Monday Morning, August 21, 2023. The Lord had need of him.
Robert, the fourth child of the late George and Gladys Williams, was born on May 22, 1948 in Talladega County, Alabama. He was a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend, but most of all he was a child of God. He confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Sweet Rock Baptist Church in Oxford, Alabama under the leadership of Reverend Noble where he sang in the choir. He was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend George Price for several years. Robert was ordained as a Minister in 2020 by Reverend Joseph Jackson at Sylvania Baptist Church in Snead, Florida.
Robert attended Grade School at Silver Run Elementary School. As a youngster he was a Boy Scott, he later relocated to Hobson City, Alabama with his family, where he played sports at Calhoun County Training School. After returning to Munford, Alabama, he continued his passion for sports, playing defensive guard at Ophelia S. Hill High School from which he graduated in 1967.
Robert attended Lincoln Business College in Jacksonville, Florida prior to joining the United States Air Force where he served in the States and Europe. After retiring from the United States Air Force, he served in the Florida Air Guard, subsequently attending Jones College earning a Bachelor of Business Administration, followed by employment with the Social Security Administration from which he retired in 2019. While there he also served as Vice President of the American Federation of Government Employees.
Robert loved life and was adventurous. He joined a Biker’s Group where he began to ride across other cities and states. He began a Nursing Home Ministry, along with his wife Gaynelle. During his tenure there, he brought much joy to the residents through his God-inspired messages and praise songs. The bi-weekly services that he rendered were uplifting to him, as well as to the residents.

To know Robert was to love him; and he was loved so much. The greatest joy that Robert felt was when he was around family and friends.
