Brother Richard Lee Countryman was born on December 9, 1934 in Dawson, Georgia. Brother Countryman was the fifth of eleven children born to the late Mose Countryman, Sr. and Fair Lilie (Barnum) Countryman.
Richard was united in Holy Matrimony to Louise L. Countryman in 1995. In his earlier years, he worked as a cook for the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. He moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1960. He worked for the City of Columbus, later retiring as a supervisor after 30 years of employment.
Richard gave his life to Christ in 1983. He joined New Generation Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He later became Chairman of the Deacon Board. While in Columbus, Richard had a community of friends. His love for Christ and people led him to minister to the homeless, residents in nursing facilities and the jail. In 2016, he moved back to Jacksonville, Florida to be closer to his siblings and family. Brother Richard Countryman joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church shortly after returning home to Jacksonville. He served faithfully and loved his pastor Bishop John Guns. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and Gardening.
Richard Lee Countryman passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. He joins his daughter, Diane Allen; his siblings, Willie James Countryman, Rosa Mae Graham, Redeather Jordan, David Countryman, Mose Countryman (Virginia), Eddie Dean Freeman and Sammie Lee Countryman.
Richard leaves to cherish his memories, his spouse, Louise L. Countryman; children, goddaughter, Jacqueline Ryan (Robert); godson, Henry Jones; godson, Mark Golden II; goddaughter, Krystal Jones (Dale); godson, Garrick Jones and Dalelynn Featherstone; grandchildren, Thurston Allen, Jr., William Allen, Tay’on Allen, and Dionne Allen (deceased); a host of great grandchildren; siblings, Rebecca Humphries, Lula Whitfield and Jimmy Lee Countryman (Cynthia); in-laws, Virginia Countryman and Cynthia Countryman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
