Robert Ammons was born on June 25, 1948, to Annie Mae Ammons and Elijah Williams in Leon County, Florida. He was educated in Jefferson County attending Howard Academy in Monticello, Florida.
Robert served in the United States Army as a tractor trailer operator that included service in Vietnam 1969-1970. His military service concluded with service at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He also returned to Jacksonville attending Florida Junior College, now known as Florida State College Jacksonville.
Robert operated several small businesses in the Tallahassee, Atlanta and Jacksonville areas. He was mainly a truck driver during most of his life until his health issues started.
Robert leaves to remember his legacy, brothers, James C. Ammons (Clara), Edward Ammons (Dorothy), Moses L. Ammons (Lenore), Timothy King, Alonza King, Jereme Nelson and Charles Nelson (Carmen); sisters, Agnes Manley, Jessie Mae Fagan, and Linda Nelson; daughters, Shuronda Cruel, Shantrell Hambrick and Cantrell Hambrick; and a host of loving grandchildren, family, and friends.
