It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Donnell Marshall, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the age of 55. Born on October 24, 1970, in Jacksonville, Florida, Robert was a proud native of the city that he called home throughout his life.
Robert was preceded in death by his cherished grandparents, Jim Canady and Mamie Zigler, as well as Joe Lee Marshall Sr. and Earlene McDaniel Marshall. He is also mourned by his aunts Sheila Ann Owens and Toni Ann Marshall, and uncles Jim Clyde Canady and Joe Lee Marshall. While the loss of these family members weighs heavily on all who knew him, Robert's spirit will continue to shine through the love and memories he created with those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lakeesha Schwann Marshall, with whom he shared seven wonderful years of marriage, and a loving relationship that spanned 23 years. Together, they built a family full of love and laughter. Robert is also survived by his five children: Ronneshia Donnella Marshall, Asjah Latia Janel Marshall, Joshua Donnell Marshall, Antwaun Rashod Chinn, and Sha’da Rene Edwards. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to his beautiful grandchildren: Anaya Rose Jacqueline Bleasdell, Christopher Marquez Bruner, and Anbri’ella Faye Chinn, who brought him boundless joy.
Robert’s legacy is further carried on by his father, Robert Jones Marshall (Maxine), and his mother, Patricia Ann Marshall. He leaves behind a loving family that includes siblings, Michael Napoleon Marshall (ShaRonda), Thalia Young (Marshall), Ernest Barrington II (Martina), and Shelvi McFadden. He is also remembered fondly by his father-in-law, Larry Barther, and mother-in-law, Hattie Adams, as well as a special nephew, Michael Napoleon Marshall Jr. In addition, Robert is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends who will forever cherish the time they spent with him.
Robert’s professional journey included dedicated service with the City of Jacksonville, where he made numerous contributions to his community. His strong ties to Jacksonville were also evident through his active participation in the In The Word International Church, under the leadership of Bishop Harry L. Williams, II, where he frequently attended services.
An athlete at heart, Robert had a lifelong passion for sports. He proudly served as the quarterback of his high school football team from 1989 to 1990 and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His enthusiasm for sports was matched only by his love for music and cooking, two joys that he often shared with family and friends. Robert was known for his warm spirit, a loving demeanor, and the laughter he brought to every gathering, making everyone feel welcome and appreciated.
As we gather to honor Robert's life, we reflect on the love and light he brought into our lives. His passing leaves a void that will never be filled, but the memories of his laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.
In remembrance of Robert Donnell Marshall, we encourage all who knew him to find solace in their memories and to cherish the moments that made him a beloved part of our lives. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
