Robert Williams Obituary

Robert Lee Williams, born on November 2, 1933 in East Orange, New Jersey was also known for short as Bob. If you had the pleasure of knowing or meeting him, you would know he was a remarkable spirit and one that would be hard to forget.

On August 30, 2025, Robert finished his meeting at the round table before God and decided to head home above to join his parents Nelly Williams (Mother), Sam Edward Williams (Father) and siblings, Janet Williams (Sister), Helen Williams (Sister), Eddie Williams (Brother), and Roland Williams (Brother).

Bob was blessed to live an amazing, fruitful and successful ninety-one years with us. He was able to grant himself and his long-term wife, Joyce Baker Williams of seventy years plus a fulfilling life of joy and abundant memories.

Bob joined the Navy in his teens and throughout his service he studied engineering. After finishing four years in the Navy, he then further pursued a long-term career as an electronic engineer giving him the freedom to travel within the states and out. Bob shared many stories amongst his family, mentioning the amazing memories, trips and people he met throughout his career.

Bob successfully retired at age fifty giving him the ability to enjoy the fruits of his labor which was his family, his joy for videography and capturing memorable family moments. There weren’t too many with a camcorder in the early 80's but sure enough you’d find Bob with his secured over his shoulder at every friend or family event.

Fishing was an enjoyable hobby he shared between him and his wife Joyce. You were certain to catch him near the ocean shore or local lake just before full sunrise. Let’s not forget his love for watching football, boxing and tennis in his spare time.

Backyard Barbeques, in his Plainfield, NJ. the family home that he shared with Joyce, was the setting of many spring and summer memories; ones we’re certain he would reflect on throughout his later life once he and his wife moved back to Jacksonville, Florida where he originally met Joyce and fell in love while once stationed during his service.

Bob had an outstanding passion for life, an ‘anything is possible’ attitude with hard work, dedication and of course “the early bird gets the worm”, thought process. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, cousin, friend and so much more. With his positive spirit he was never afraid to approach or speak to anyone. He made complete strangers feel like friends with ease.

Bob was the anchor. Robert is survived by his forever loving wife, Joyce Baker Williams; two sons, Lemont Williams (oldest) and Derrick Williams (Youngest); four grandchildren, Lemont Williams Jr., Tiffiny Williams, Kendra Evans Williams, and Magnus Reed followed by seven great grandchildren by the names of Antonio Williams, Amari Forbes, Gabby Williams, Gianni Forbes, Ivan Williams, Maxwell Medina and Kelani Hercules. Ending with his legendary niece, Robyn Crawford.

Robert leaves his family with an embedded reality of what it is to know and give love, support, kindness, leadership, loyalty and success. May Robert’s spirit live on through us all and our memories shared together.

Rest in Peace Robert, you will forever be missed and never forgotten. We love you.
