Mrs. Rosa Lee Kohn Grant known as “Zone” was born on May 24, 1937, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Simon Hosea Kohn and Elouise Samuels Kohn.
She was married to the late George Grant. Zone worked at Paramount Poultry for several years, while being a “Traveling Barber,” serving the community’s needs.
She was a life-long member of Second Bethel Baptist Church and attended faithfully until her health failed. She loved to bake cakes and was especially known for her “fruit cookies.”
Although being in several nursing homes, she always loved people and never met a stranger. She always encouraged anyone she encountered and was like a Nursing Home Evangelist.
Rosa Lee was one of nine siblings and was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Elouise Kohn; husband, George Grant; sisters, Frances Scott and Zena Lee; and brothers: Sonnie Kohn, Sr., Carl Kohn, Sr., Joseph Kohn, and Ervin Kohn.
Zone leaves to cherish her many memories her daughter, Aundray Cummings; granddaughters, Emeka-Wanton-Nicholas (Jerome) and Lamia Cummings; godson, Zakia Randolph; sister, Linda Outlaw; brother, Emmett Kohn; sister-in-law, Bernice S. Kohn; cousin, like a sister, Agalene “Sally” Samuels; special friend, Carrie Lundy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
