Rosa Lee Jones

March 26, 1919 ~ February 8, 2021 (age 101)

Obituary

Rosa Lee Jones was born to Wine Humphrey and Josephine Walker on March 27th (recorded as 26th), 1919. Rosa Lee Humphrey was born and lived most of her life in Jacksonville, Florida in the Sunbeam area.

Rosa received her formal education in Duval County schools. She later married Henry Jones in 1935.

She labored out of love for many years as a Domestic Engineer and Nanny for the Browns, Blumberg’s and other families in the San Jose area. She was also committed to helping others by any means necessary. Though she never had any children of her own. She with open arms accepted the task of being a loving mother to Addie Walker, Harriet Graham and Nanny to Lauren and Wil Blumberg. It was not unusual for her to extend a helping hand.

In her early years she attended New St. James Baptist Church and later became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greenland. She was an Eastern Star and member of the Harim of Jericho Chapter.

Rosa Lee Jones was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and Addie Walker. She leaves to cherish her love, as a sister, Kathy Mobley; Addie's sons, Carlos Kennedy and Rashawn Walker; the Blumberg children; her goddaughter, Dorothy Fletcher; special friends, Thelma Ray, Maggie Walker, The Allen’s, The Jones family and The Walker Family; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
