The book of life closed for Rufus Bernard Harvey on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Rufus was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 13, 1952 to the late Willie James, Sr. and Beatrice Harvey as the oldest brother of four.
Rufus was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a proud high school graduate of William M. Raines, Class of 1971. After graduating, he went on to spend a few years in the United States Navy and became a Mason. When he returned to Jacksonville he met the love of his life, Mary Ann. Rufus and Mary Ann were married on April 4, 1975 and had two children.
After earning a trade, Rufus begin working as a welder/boilermaker for CSX Transportation (Railroad). He spent most of his years with CSX working at the Waycross location. After working for thirty-seven years, Rufus retired.
Rufus leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of fifty years, Mary Ann Harvey; children, Shawn Harvey and Latisha Harvey; mother, Beatrice Harvey; mother-in-law, Leola Gamble; grandchildren, Ciaera Turner, Kamille Harvey, Shayla Harvey, Sharay Harvey, Shanton Harvey and Shaydon Harvey (deceased); his siblings, Willie James Harvey Jr., Gaynora Harvey (deceased), and William Harvey; his nieces and nephews, Frederick Williams, Gabriel Williams, Jowanda Jackson (Jermaine), and Lanisha Jackson; former daughter-in-law, Monique Harvey; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, grand nieces and nephews, friends, co-workers, and all those who loved Rufus dearly.
