Ruth Culp Cash was born on July 15, 1931 to the late Robert and Roberta Culp in Richburg, South Carolina. She attended Finley High School of Chester, South Carolina.
In 1947 Ruth married John Peay, Jr., the father of her five daughters. She later married David Cash, Sr. the father of her seven step-children. Ruth worked at JC Penny, Jacksonville University and Mt. Carmel Terrace. Her favorite hobbies were doing puzzles books for hours.
Ruth was a devoted and faithful member of Grater Mt. Salem Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was the former Superintendent Sunday School, President of the EPBA of Missionary Society, Member of the Deaconess Board, Former member of Choir #1, Former President of Congress of Christian Education EPBA and Former President of Christian Women’s Society.
Ruth Culp Cash slept away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, January 1, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Robert Culp; first husband, John Peay, Jr.; second husband, David Cash, Sr.; grandson, Gregory Butler; and siblings, Robert Mack Culp, Joey Perry Culp and Barbara Caldwell.
Ruth leaves to mourn her passing but to cherish her memories, her five daughters, Doris James (Ernest), Joyce Bryant, Joan Peay, Linda Small (Sydney and Nancy Peay: seven children by marriage, David Cash, Jr.(Winona), Willard Carl Cash (Mary), Joan Brooks (Robert), Darlene Faye Turner, Maxine Albright, Christine Jones, Kenneth Cash ( Wanda); thirty grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sibling, Hopie Evans; in-laws, Nancy Caldwell, Carol Fourney, Catherine Culp, Nadine Culp and William T. Peay; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and many sorrowing friends.
