Samuel Benjamin Forehand, Jr., a beloved family man and veteran, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on March 26, 1949, to Samuel Forehand, Sr. and Tamar Forehand. Samuel was a proud resident of Jacksonville, where he spent his formative years and cultivated a life filled with love and purpose.
Samuel was an alumnus of Duval County Public Schools, where he laid the foundation for a life devoted to learning and growth. After completing his education, he honorably served in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his dedication to his country and the values he held dear.
In his personal life, Samuel cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Shirley Jean Forehand, and together they created a warm and loving home. Their union was blessed with a son, Benny Forehand, who preceded him in death, leaving a profound impact on Samuel’s heart and spirit. Samuel is also survived by his son, Ryan Forehand (Cynthia). Samuel took great pride in his family, especially his grandchildren: Ka'Travis, Ja'Quante, Lorenzo, Na'Quanda, David, and Za'keria. Each of them brought him immeasurable joy, and he lovingly supported their dreams and aspirations.
Samuel was a pillar of strength for his family, a loving father who instilled values of kindness, perseverance, and resilience. He is also survived by his siblings, Paul Forehand, Sr. (Brenda), Roosevelt Forehand (Fina), Vanessa Forehand, Alena Forehand, and Frederick Forehand (Sabine). His love extended to his special nieces, Kisha Forehand, Kanisha Forehand and Tangela Jones, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they made together.
Though Samuel faced the heartbreak of losing his wife, Shirley, his son, Benny, and sister Scherrie Forehand he continued to embody strength, compassion, and a deep love for his family. He touched the lives of many with his warm smile and kind heart, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
As we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Samuel Benjamin Forehand, Jr., we take solace in knowing that he lived a life filled with love, service, and commitment to family. His legacy will forever endure through the lives he influenced and the love he shared.
May he rest in peace, knowing the depth of love that surrounds him and the countless lives he touched during his journey on this earth.
