Shirley McCauley Obituary

Shirley Sue McCauley, a.k.a. Mom, Grandma Ley-Ley, and Nanette, was in born in New Mexico on March 18, 1954, and went home on July 31, 2022.

She lived in Jacksonville, Florida where she worked for the State of Florida as a phlebotomist. She was a hardworking woman, many times working multiple jobs at a time while raising three strong willed boys.

Shirley loved to crochet in her spare time, creating beautiful art. She loved making lions, tigers, bears (oh my!) and rhinos for her grandsons, frogs and purses for her granddaughters, blankets and hats for her children and grandchildren, as well as other items like turtles, horses, stockings, oven mitts, etc. She grew and cared for various plants and flowers.

She had the biggest heart and believed in second chances. She was always so caring, compassionate, and went out of her way to help everyone she could. She had the most beautiful soul, loved all, and was loved by all.

She loved her children, grandchildren, extended family/friends, and her dogs, especially little Dottie.

She is survived by three sons, Ralph Benjamin Hutchins (wife: Patricia), Matthew Jason Hutchins, and Timothy Paul Hutchins; six grandchildren, Alexia Hutchins, Benjamin Hutchins, Abigail Hutchins, Nathaniel Hutchins, Tre’Quanda DeWitt, and Neveah Hutchins, and extended family.

Mom – you may be with God in heaven, but we will always carry you with us in our hearts and memories. We love you and miss you dearly.

“A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.” – Maya Angelou
