Stanley was reared in the Washington D.C. area and attended Spingarn High School. After high school Stanley joined the United States Army. In 1974 Stanley married Yvonne Williams and to this union were three children. In 1989 he met and married Violet Alderman Griffin and to this union one child was born. Stanley was a loving father who often used his sarcasm as a means to teach and lighten the situation of rearing a caring and loving family.
Stanley resided in the District Heights Maryland area before retirement. He was employed with the National Gallery, Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital as an orderly and with the Pentagon for well over twenty years. In 2005, upon retirement from the Pentagon Stanley and Violet moved to the Hilliard (Lessie), Florida area and enjoyed a quiet carefree life with family and friends where he remained until his demise. He loved watching military movies and Looney Toon Cartoons to relax. He was a naturalist and was known to use holistic and natural medicine for his various ailments. He enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and the great outdoors. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan, the lover of animals, especially dogs and he also loved listening to old school R&B music.
