Survalrie Johnson Obituary

Survalrie Virginia Johnson slept peacefully away on Saturday November 16, 2019 at the age of 79.  She was loved by everyone and was most known to take in anyone in need.  She had great compassion for people and a smile that would suck out the gloom in any climate. Ms. Johnson was raised in the close-knit shrimping community of Mayport village.  She was educated in a private boarding school where she studied piano in Savannah, Georgia.

In her later years she co-owned and ran The Beachcomber, a restaurant and lounge with her mate the late Roy Williams, Sr. and in recent years she focused her attention on writing children’s books with her latest work pending publishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the late great Harper Davis, Sr. and Inez M. Davis; her eldest sister, Ruth Williams (Wanee); her eldest brother, Virgil James; and youngest, brother Harper Davis Jr.

She lived for her family and is survived by her two sons and their wives, Roy L. Williams, Jr. (Lamyia) and Maron Martin (Lynn); her two daughters and their husbands, Tanya C. Washington (Rashad) and Sadell Davis Anderson (Norman). Ms. Survalrie also raised three step daughters, Lisa Sharp daughter of the late Willie Sharp, Patricia Mitchell (Henry) and Linda Gilyard (Larry).

Ms. Johnson was also survived by her two brothers and their wives and two sisters and their husbands, Carl Davis (Marcia), Calvin Davis (Cathy), her eldest sister, Charlene Brown (Kadell) and her baby sister, Rudene Muse (Rod). She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She also leaves behind three godsisters, Lisa Dove Sanders, Dorothy Meggit and Annett Williams; one godbrother, Isaac Brown, Sr.; ten godsons and goddaughters, Pricilla Brown, Rudene Williams, Tiffany O'Hara, Cherie Drayton, Ernie Walden (Weasel), Rosalyn Jarido, Raymond Mitchel, Kareem Ross, Josh Thompson and Tony Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family to exhaustive to name.

Ms. Survalrie V. Johnson was known by everyone as “Aunt Val” and lived by this philosophy, "If you put no one beneath you, no one can ever be above you" and "Love everyone just as Jesus loves you."
