Terrance Aquino Obituary

Terrance Micheal Aquino, age 26, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Friday December 5, 2025. He was born on December 5, 1999, to Sharae Matteu and Rene Aquino, in Jacksonville, Florida.

He is survived by his parents, Sharae and James Matteu, and Rene “Rad” and Francis Aquino; his siblings, Tomas and Tiffany Matteu, and Tatiana and Eric Aquino; his grandparents, Cathy McCants, Michael Wiseman, and Nydia and Jose Matteu. He is also survived by a beloved extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins; his football family, Dannelle “Momma Spots,” Jason and Jordan Spotswood; and his guide parents, Darren and Queen Habersham, with guide siblings Princess Caldwell, Cesar Cardona, Alexis and Amber Habersham.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Gladys McCants and grandparents, Jesus and Paula Aquino.

Terrance’s story is not defined by time, but by the strength, compassion, and protection he selflessly offered to so many.

From childhood, Terrance was mature beyond his years. He was courteous, self-aware, and a devoted son. His sense of responsibility surfaced early and continued to grow stronger.

By age twelve, Terrance stood six feet tall and weighed nearly 200 pounds. A cold call his stepfather made to a coach at Duval Charter launched Terrance’s life-long passion for football. Because of his size and intelligence on the field, Terrance played simultaneously for a middle-school team and a junior-varsity high-school team, the latter where he competed with young men his size.

As Terrance grew, his leadership blossomed. He mentored teammates on professionalism and offered guidance. His parents, Sharae and James, taught Terrance to balance power with gentleness, strength with compassion. He took these lessons to heart, maturing into a grounded, well-balanced man.

Terrance fulfilled his dream of playing collegiate football at Mayville State University in North Dakota and at Webber International University in South Florida. He excelled in math and science but pursued sports psychology as it aligned with his desire to support athletes.

Family knew Terrance as the peacemaker and protective big brother. He helped others understand differences and was unwaveringly loyal to his brother and sisters.

Terrance devoted much of his life to building and nurturing a close-knit community of family and friends. He inspired and encouraged others to be their best selves and live authentically. Using his ability to recognize one’s true character along with his gentle leadership, he influenced others to find self-confidence and honest self-worth. And even when he had every reason to focus on himself, he still placed others first.

To say Terrance is special is not a cliché. It is an undeniable truth. This world was made better by his kindness and love which he shared selflessly.

Colors for his service are black and silver, the colors of his favorite NFL team, the Raiders. In lieu of flowers, and for those who feel moved to honor Terrance, the family invites donations to YearUp, a program that meaningfully supported his path.
