Tommie Hayes Obituary

Tommie Lee Hayes joined this earth on June 27, 1966, to the late Tommie L. Hayes and Sarah W. Lewis in Ideal, Georgia. Tommie was the third born, second daughter of five children. She graduated from Andrew Jackson Sr. High School in June of 1984. She continued her passion for education attending Florida Community College of Jacksonville receiving her Associates in Liberal Arts, before moving on and earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Jones College in Jacksonville June of 1989. She was still in her pursuit of higher learning only 2 credits from earning another Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

Tommie’s professional working career span a period of more than forty years, most recently working for Enspire for Enterprise as a CS Consultant. She held many positions of leadership and was an outstanding leader, mentor, co-worker, and friend. Over her life she has volunteered her time to many causes to include working the suicide prevention hotline.

Tommie will always be known for her sweet soul by everyone. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her infectious personality, contagious smile and positive attitude lit any room she entered. She was not a person of anger only love and support for all. She held you accountable but also lifted you up when you were down. She was caring, yet compassionate and loved so hard. She was not a mother through birth but was seen fit to raise a son. She was chosen to share her heart, soul, wisdom, and spirit. She was a loving and selfless daughter to her mother being there every moment until she earned her wings. She was a devoted and unselfish sister giving way more than she could ever receive in kind. She will always be the most loving and admired auntie to her nieces and nephews. Spoiling each one beyond measure and giving time when she didn’t have time to give. She was a valued cousin and unconditional friend never meeting anyone that didn’t walk away being infected by her spirit. She was that extraordinary soul that God placed on this earth to show all compassion, service, and most of all love.

Tommie was proceeded in death by both her father, Tommie L. Hayes (sunset unknown) and mother, Sarah W. Lewis (sunset January 2003). She leaves to cherish many unforgettable memories her son, David L. Tucker; her four siblings, brothers, Henry Wilson, William D. Lewis, and Robert F. Lewis; sister, Loraine Holmes; sisters-in-law, Denise Wilson (Henry) and Felicia A. Lewis (William); brother-in-law, Calvin Holmes (Loraine); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
