Vera Mae Jones was born on March 22, 1932 to the late Jasper and Willie Mae Wilson in Perry, Florida. She attended the local schools receiving her High School Diploma. She furthered her education obtaining her nursing degree.
Vera was an entrepreneur for many years. She was a member of West St. Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jones, which later turned into Rev. John Peoples. She loved caring for others, a modern-day Mother Theresa.
Vera Mae Jones quietly answered the Master’s call on Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Willie Mae Wilson; sisters, Maydell Jones, Earlene Morris, Georgia Williams and Annie Ruth Holt; and brothers, Arberry Wilson, Jasper Wilson, Willie Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Abraham Wilson, and Emmitt Wilson.
Vera leaves to mourn her passing but to cherish her memories, her children, Willie Jones, Jr. (Bonita Sesker), Betty Glover, Arthur Jones (Alice) and Rosemary Coleman (Reginald); grandchildren, Demetria McKinnon-Kyles, Kimbra Jones, Sheronda Grier, Ronald McKinnon (Alexis), Arthur Jones, Jr., Lauren Jones, Tamika Jones, Shaunte Coleman and Reginald Coleman, Jr.; great grandchildren, Jaylin McKinnon, Gary Jones, Destinee Kyles, Arthur Jones, III, Gabriel Jones, Jarod Kyles, Arthur Jones IV, Christian Henry, Keyone Jones, Ronald McKinnon, Jr. and Noah McKenzie; great great grandchild, MacKenzie McKinnon; siblings, Mary Katherine Woodfork; goddaughter, Rev. Rosa Holsey; special friend, Wilfred Friday; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives., church family and many sorrowing friends.
