Verdell Telfair Obituary

Mrs. Verdell Telfair, a native of Jacksonville, Florida was born November 28, 1932 to the parents of Ulysses and Viola Moses. She received her education in the Public Schools of Duval County.

Mrs. Telfair was joined in Holy Matrimony to Otis Telfair, Jr. in 1947. She worked for Duval County Public School System, in the Cafeteria Department. Verdell attended Tabernacle Baptist and later became affiliated with Genesis Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, sung in the choir, youth coordinator, mother of the church and as the church fundraiser. She was a long time employee of the Baker Family and the Commander Family. 

Mrs. Telfair was called to rest on Monday, May 29, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Viola Moses; husband, Otis Telfair, Jr.; siblings, Willie Thomas, Lucille Wright, Walter Lee Moses and Deloris Jones; and grandson, Keith Israel.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister, Carrie Moses; children, Margie Jackson (Darrell), Jacqueline Allen, and Warren Alexander; grandchildren, Charlie Norris, Jr. (Charlene), Tijuanna Davis (Isaac), Paula Israel, and Duane Alexander; great grandchildren, Justin Norris (Jameeka), Lachara Fullwood, Charzetta Norris, Tierra Davis, and Tianna Davis; great-great grandchildren, Sincere Norris, and Harlem Norris; nephews, Carl Jones (Charlene), Ronnie Jones, and Dexter Moses; niece, Gaynell Moses; special care giver, Tamika Jones; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
