Verneese Ann McClendon

Verneese Ann McClendon was born on October 3, 1957 in Jacksonville, Florida to Neptune Goggins and Minnie Lee Jenkins. She attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from Andrew Jackson High School class of 1975. She further her education and attended Nursing School becoming a Medical Assistant in 1983.

Verneese was employed with Maxwell House Coffee/Kraft Foods in 1998 where she retired after years of faithful service. She enlisted in the United States Army National Guard receiving an Honorable discharge of Specialist Verneese A. Jenkins-McClendon in May 1991.

Verneese was united in Holy Matrimony to Harold “Hopsang” McClendon, Sr. She was a devoted and faithful member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, quality time with her grandchildren and family. Verneese also enjoyed eating seafood/crabs, shopping, and watching movies.

Verneese Ann McClendon went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold McClendon, Sr.; mother, Minnie Lee Jenkins; father, Neptune Goggins; and her brother, Curtis Goggins, Sr.

Verneese leaves to cherish her fond memories, her sons, Torey Jenkins, Sr. and Harold L. McClendon, II; grandchildren, Victoria Jenkins, Eboni Jenkins, Torey Jenkins, Jr., Alona Jenkins, London Jenkins, De'Kolby Brown, Xavier McClendon, Paris McClendon, Phenix McClendon, and Harold McClendon, III; siblings, Howard Jenkins (Wanda), Horace Jenkins, Alphonso (Gwendolyn), Elder Melvin (Betty), Vanessa Gail (Robert), Sandra Yvonne, and Brenda; In-laws, James Lundy (Barbara), Jackie Clark (Horace), Linda Barfield (George), Maxine Reid, Rosetta Borden, Sylvia McClendon, Mary Alvin (Daryl), Ruby Price (Mervin), Wanda Allen (Anthony), Donald McClendon (Linda) and Chemise Goggins; close friends, Alveta Frazier and Taraca Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
