Vickey Murphy Obituary

Mrs. Vickey Mae Wright-Murphy was born on March 12, 1952, in Miami, Florida at Jackson Memorial Hospital to parents Alberta Smith Wright and Clifton Wright who are both deceased.

Vickey dropped out of Miami Northwestern High School and birthed a beautiful girl child name Toni Francine Wright-Jones. She later married and divorced Mr. Henry James Sims who passed this life in January 2004. While in Miami she worked as debt collector and short order cook. After attending Miami Dorsey Trade School as a secretarial scientist, she went on to work for the Southeast Bank of Miami in Hialeah Florida as a Master Card/Visa collector.

Later, Vickey relocated to Jacksonville Florida where she met and married Mr. Kenneth Murphy (deceased). While in Jacksonville, Vickey obtained her high school diploma at the age of 36 from Florida Community College at Jacksonville. She went into early medical retirement following her injury on the job and being in two automobile accidents. She was an outgoing community activist and served her community for many years as Program Director of Project Get-Smart: an after school tutoring program. She also served as community secretary for the resident association of JHA and later held the office as President.

Vickey was an active churchgoer. She attended Kings Road Church of Christ with Dr. Alfred Hooker for twenty years. She went on to place membership at the Southside Church of Christ (The Worship Place) and later was an active member of The Freedom Bible Fellowship, Pastor Al Grandison. During her church reign, she became an evangelist. She loved the Lord and was very vocal in displaying her love and affection for Jesus Christ.

She leaves her daughter, Toni Francine Wright-Jones; six grandchildren, Tameika L. Wright, Quintin A. Piece III, Nefeteria A. Jones, Khiree Jones, Adarius Jones, and Anthony Jones Jr.; great granddaughters, DaNyla Q. Pierce, Alayah L. Pierce, and Aubrey Jones; great grandsons, Anthony Jones III and Khiree Jones; an older sister, Evelyn Wright (Miami); a son-in-law, Anthony Jones Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends to carry on her traditions of love and fellowship in Christ.
