The personal life’s journey for Violet Alderman Griffin unexpectedly came to an end on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida when she answered the Master’s call to step from time to eternity.
Violet was born as the first child to the late Deacon Henry and Margaret Louise Jordan in the Lessie area of Nassau County, Florida. She received her early education in Nassau County and graduated from West Nassau High School class of 1968. After graduation she moved to Washington D.C. and became employed with the United States Army as an accountant at the Pentagon. She remained employed for 35 years and retired in 2003. After retirement she moved back to Florida and enjoyed a peaceful and quiet life in the Lessie community. Upon her return to Florida, she united herself with Mount Horeb Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended.
On September 1, 1989, in Upper Malboro, Maryland, she married her true love Stanley Norman Griffin. To this union one daughter was born Tamara. Violet loved her family and took the job as “Big Sister” seriously. She loved and was concerned about her children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers. She enjoyed quiet times watching Westerns, playing games on her tablet, reading and watching her favorite football team the Washington Redskins. She enjoyed family gatherings where she would from time to time show them how to dance to “Roll It, Roll It”.
Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Louise Jordan; parents-in-law, Samuel and Georgianna Griffin; grandson, Titus Claitt; sister, Annette Jordan; brothers, Henry Jordan Jr., and Eddie Lee Jordan; brothers-in-law, Samuel Griffin Jr. and Stanford Griffin; and nephews, Byron Jordan, Kemon Mitchell, Jermaine Jordan and Romanique Jordan.
Cherishing her love and honoring her memory is her devoted husband of 37 years, Stanley Griffin; loving daughter, Tamara Scott (Cedrix); bonus children, Mia Griffin, Eric Poole, and Jason Poole; grandchildren, Taurean Claitt, Tamia Claitt, Trinity Claitt, Jason Poole Jr., Akil Griffin, Niko Williams, Solana Williams, and Arianna Griffin; sisters, Marilyn Manning (Bruce) and Jackie Davis (Alvin); brother-in-law, Stevie Akbar Griffin; uncle, Levi Mathis (Katherine); aunts, Angelet Gowan, Tammy Murry (Eugene), Patricia Kelly (Willie), Hazel Jackson, and Janice Kegler (Bing); dear friend, Margie Hussey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, neighbors and friends.
