Virginia Elizabeth Boss, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, slept away peacefully at the age of 82 on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Folkston, Georgia. Born on September 13, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida Virginia lived a life filled with love, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Virginia was a proud graduate of Matthew Gilbert High School, where she laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She went on to have a fulfilling career, retiring from National Linen Service after many years of dedicated service. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in everything she did, leaving a lasting impression on her colleagues and the community.
Faith played a significant role in Virginia’s life. She was an active member of the Open Arms Community Church, where she found solace, purpose, and connection with others. Virginia’s warmth and compassion radiated from her, making everyone feel welcome and loved.
A passionate creator at heart, Virginia found joy in making and crafting beautiful floral arrangements. This hobby was not just a pastime but a reflection of her personality—vibrant, colorful, and always filled with life. Her floral creations adorned many family gatherings, celebrations, and special occasions, serving as a testament to her artistic spirit and her desire to bring beauty into the lives of others.
Virginia was the daughter of Catherine Montgomery and Paul Johnson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Boss; as well as her parents; her grandson, Frederick Boss, Jr.; her brother, David Artimus; her nephew, Tony Hicks; and her brother-in-law, Nathaniel Hicks. Despite these losses, Virginia’s legacy lives on through the vibrant family she nurtured and the countless lives she touched along her journey.
Virginia is survived by her loving children, Frederick Boss (Cynthia), Cecilia Boss, and Kendal Boss. Her family tree flourished under her nurturing care, with grandchildren, LaDonna Milton, Danielle Boss, Stephanie Boss, Regina Reed, Kelly Boss, Antionette Boss, Charity Boss, Joseph Davis, and Paul Boss; alongside her adored great-grandchildren, Ethan Maxwell, Taylor Maxwell, Kaden Milton, Tiana McRae, Eldridge Milton, Connor Terry, Frederick Boss, Jamiah Jackson, Aaron Jackson, Emory Jackson, Lyric Murray, JaJa Wise, Cam'ya Wise, Albrinet Wise, Akeem Youman, Xavier Bessent, Ezekiel Bessent. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, and she took great pride in watching her family grow and thrive.
Virginia’s siblings, Mary Brown (Theodore), Francine Hicks, John Henry Artimus, Alfreda Davis, Louise Shield, Willie Boss (Jeanette), and Andrew Boss (Wanda) will miss her dearly. Along with numerous friends and extended family, they will cherish the memories of her kindness, laughter, and unwavering support.
Virginia Elizabeth Boss lived a life rich in love, devotion, and creativity. She touched the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy will forever be a source of inspiration and strength. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
