Vivian Odessa Forshee was born on April 20, 1954, to the late Dr. Willie E. Young and Vera O. Young. She completed her education at Andrew Jackson High School, earning her diploma, and went on to attend Bethune Cookman College, where she was awarded a band scholarship to play the saxophone. Following her undergraduate studies and the attainment of her Bachelor’s Degree, Vivian pursued and received her Master’s Degree from Jacksonville University.
Vivian dedicated over thirty years of her life as an English Educator with Duval County Public School Board, impacting countless students throughout her career.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Willie E. Young and Vera O. Young; her husband, Lemuel Earl “Hoppy” Forshee; her sister, Anna Pearl Wade; and her nephew, Paul Wade III.
She is survived by her bonus son, Corey Forshee; children, Qiana Forshee, Juaacklyn Stevenson (John), Immanuel Forshee (Shelly), Gabriel Forshee (Traycetta), and Joel Forshee. Vivian’s legacy continues through her ten grandchildren, Jeremiah, Bishop, Jamiah, Edward, Edward, Elisha, Gavin, Erianna, True and Grayson.
Vivian also leaves behind her brother, Errick Young; sister-in-law, Teresa Young; brother-in-law, Robert Gibson; sister-in-law, Terri Lynn Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, colleagues, and her church community.
Vivian Forshee will be remembered as a loving, dedicated, and compassionate woman of God. She consistently demonstrated care and commitment to her students, imparting “Truths” that helped shape their lives. As a faithful member of Impact Church, Vivian volunteered with the prison ministry, served as a prayer warrior for those in need, and was always a listening ear to those who sought comfort.
As we reflect on Vivian’s remarkable journey, we find solace in knowing that her legacy endures through her family and all those whose lives she touched. Although she will be deeply missed, her love and light will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
