Mrs. Willie Mae Rose was born on October 20, 1936, in Aiken, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Willie R. Jackson and Mrs. Hattie Mae Lovett. She was the eldest of seven children. During her early childhood, the family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where she was raised and educated through the Duval County Public School System.
At a young age, Willie Mae accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Zion Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for 61 years. Her devotion to her church family was evident through her active service as a trustee, a dedicated member of District 10 led by Deacon Gary Bronner, and her participation in the Mass Choir, Choir #2, and Usher Board #3. Her faith remained steadfast, and she continued to serve the Lord faithfully until her health no longer allowed her to do so.
Willie Mae was united in marriage first to Mr. William Perry and later to Mr. John Rose, both of whom preceded her in death. Through these unions, she shared deep love, companionship, and family that enriched her life’s journey.
Willie Mae possessed a natural love for fashion, creativity, and the arts. She pursued and completed training in fashion, tailoring, and ceramics. She was a devoted and hardworking employee at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station, where she faithfully served for 21 years before retiring. After retirement, she continued to enjoy life and new experiences by traveling across the country with Contemporary Services Corporation as a ticket worker, combining her love for people, adventure, and connection wherever she went.
To know Willie Mae was to love her. She made her imprint on this world through her big personality, radiant spirit, and generous heart. She never met a stranger and carried a love for people that left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. When asked how she wanted to be remembered she replied she wanted it to be known “I love everyone”.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Mae Lovett; father, Willie R. Jackson; sisters, Idella Wynn and Nazarine Binder; and brother, James Lee Jackson, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jennifer Jackson Foulk (Charles); goddaughter, Rena Brown; grandchildren, LaToya Jackson, Jenell Jackson, Jeffrey Brown, Tytiana Brown, and Rachel Foulk; siblings, Willie Jackson Jr., Martha Ann McKenzie, and Doris Ford King; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever remember her warmth, loyalty, and love.
Her earthly journey has ended, but her light continues to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
