Willie “Robert” Trotter was born August 31, 1939, in Edison, Georgia, to the late Jack and Leila Trotter. He was educated in the Duval County Schools and graduated from New Stanton Senior High School, Class of 1958.
He was married sixty-one years to Lucille B. Trotter. Two children, Lamont “Ricky” Trotter and Maurice Trotter (Deceased) were born to that union. He was raised in West Union Baptist Church and converted to Catholicism in 1976, joining St. Pius V Catholic Church. At St. Pius, Robert served as an Extra-Ordinary Minister and primarily visited and carried Holy Communion to the Sick and Shut-in parishioners. He was faithful to this ministry for several years until his health began to fail. He also was an active member of the Lawn Ministry.
Robert served in the U. S. Army and was Honorably Discharged. He retired from the United States Postal Service, after 30 years of service. For several years Robert faithfully served as a member of the Kairos Teams (bring Christ to the inmates) in the Prison Ministry at Union Correctional Institute. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd and 4th Degrees), Ponce DeLeon Assembly, having received an Honorary Life Membership award. Member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Msgr. Walter J. Darcy Council #335.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Maurice Trotter; parents, Jack and Leila Trotter; brothers, Theodore Roosevelt Trotter, Ronald Trotter, Nelson Trotter, Michael Trotter, Edward Trotter, and John C. Trotter; and sisters, Cora Bell Trotter, Annie Will Trotter Thomas, and Mary Francis Trotter.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife, Lucille Trotter; son, Lamont “Ricky” Trotter (Natalie), grandchildren, Ashya Walden (Brad), Akija Trotter, Jamal Trotter and Cory Trotter; great grandchildren, Elijah Trotter-Stubbs and Jordyn Walden; sisters, Katie Mae McClain, Inez White, Irene Rickerson and Mary Jane Morris; in-law, Sherry Trotter; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
