Wilma Jean Kirkland was born on January 24, 1941 in Jacksonville Florida to James and Minnie Lee Bryant Holmes. Wilma was a graduate of Stanton Senior High School of Duval County in Jacksonville, Florida.
Wilma married the love of her life, Marvin Kirkland on August 29, 1959. They have three children. She was employed by Mastercraft for approximately 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
Wilma was a member of Saint Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend George A. Price. Wilma’s electric personality touched the lives of a multitude of people through her generosity and engaging smile.
Wilma transitioned on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kirkland; parents, James and Minnie Lee Bryant Holmes; and loving sister, Peggy Walker.
Wilma leaves to cherish precious memories, her sons, Kevin G. Kirkland and Keith L. Kirkland; daughter, Sara Ann Lattimore; grandchildren, Christian Kirkland, Kevin Kirkland, Jr., Courtney Kirkland, Keith C. Kirkland, Avery Tobin Kirkland, La’Shanda Lattimore and Jermaine Lattimore; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; in-laws, David Kirkland (Gloria), Willie Earl Kirkland, Gwendolyn Allen and Eunice Kirkland; godchildren, Daniel Holmes, Linda Townsend, John Reed, Jasmine Cox, Brenda Williams and Alexis McCoy; special friends, Annette Demps, Ruhnetta Fennell and Sylvia Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and many sorrowing friends.
