Ms. Yashica Katrice Walker was born on June 26, 1976, in Jacksonville, Florida. The eldest of four children to the late James Walker Jr. and Virginia Powell Walker, Yashica lived a pretty full life between Forrest City, Arkansas and Jacksonville, Florida.

Yashica was very close to her family, an abundance of friends, and a light to all she surrounded! As a scholar she graduated from Raines High School in 1994 where she made her family proud. From awards for academic achievements to being captain of a dance team, all she set her mind to was ventured without a doubt.

Yashica was employed from Metris and Blue cross for almost combined total of Ten plus years, while also venturing in entrepreneurship in many professions. She excelled in multiple self-employed businesses such as wedding planning, daycare, online boutiques, photography, writing children’s books, being a notary and many more.

Yashica was also a very huge advocate and contributor to the Jacksonville LGBTQ community. Being a coordinator for multiple Pride parades and events over the years, she has marked herself as a staple and one of the many voices of the communities that fights for equal rights and having people live their truths.

Yashica is an absolute dog lover and a softie for other pets. Having over ten dogs majority being rescued, birds, multiple fish, and a cat. She was a pure example of nurturing and caring. She loved being by the water, whether it was the beach, river, or a nice lake, she would find peace being out in certain parts of nature.

Yashica leaves her legacy and memories to her sons, Najee Owens, Lamark Jones Jr., Jaquille Williams, and Ayden Walker; her daughter, Arayah Welcome; brothers, James Walker III and Frederick Walker.
