Iola Beacher Long

Iola Beacher Long was born on December 8, 1943 to the late Albert Sr. and Lula Bell Beacher. She was reared by her mother, Irene “Honey” Humphrey.  She was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2018.

Iola attended Douglas Anderson School and grew up in the Southside community.  She retired from Laquinta Hotels after 20 years of service.  Iola was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother and great-grandmother.

She dedicated her life to her family and she was known for being a mother to many and helped anyone she could.  Her advice, humor and sassiness was known by all and she gave her honest opinion whether you liked it or not in love.

She leaves the joy of her memories to her devoted husband, Edward Sr.; her loving sons, Edward Jr. (Keenan), Timothy and David; her eight grandchildren, Tawyna (Adrian), Greg, Desmond, Daniel, Brandon, Ciaira, Terell and Nathan; her four great-grandchildren, Adrian, Justin, Hunter and Greg III; seven brothers, William (Joyce), Albert (Shirley), Albert Jr., Larry, Terry Lee, Marcus, Robert (Teresa); her six sisters, Gloria, Evelyn (Ronnie), Andrea, Debbie Ann (Homer), Angeline (Marcus), and Sadie; special friend, Racheal; a very special niece, Paula; and she also leaves her joy to a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
