Welcome to the memorial page for

Idine Jackson Waters

July 25, 1924 ~ April 12, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Mrs. Idine Waters was born on July 25, 1924, in Quitman Georgia to the late Mose Jackson and Mary Jackson. In 1942, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Louis Waters and five children were born to this union.

Idine was one of the corner stones of Atlantic Beach, she has gathered up her stones to take her glorious journey to join her family and friends and rest at the gathering in her new home of Glory.

She was a part of a Community watch that originated from the old school policy of "It takes a village to raise a family." She would from her bedroom window or front porch keep an eye open for the children and the neighborhood.  She would always have a smile and welcoming wave of love as her neighbors would pass by. Her love for people went far beyond rhetoric but with reaction.  Her hand of help has always been extended to those in need.  Her home was a place of refuge and love.  All of her years she shared with gratitude and graciousness always abiding in love and giving. Mrs. Waters was a devoted member of The New Friendship Baptist Church where she worked and served diligently until her health made the difference.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Waters; mother, Mary Jackson (Howard), father, Mose Jackson; daughter, Bettye Hooker; her grandson, Bruce Waters; her sister, Ethel Lewis; her brothers, Lawrence Jackson, Foster Jackson and Ned Jackson.

She leaves to carry on her legacy and to cherish her memories, her children, Willie Waters (Christine), Ida Weech, Priscilla Hall and Donald Waters (Shenetha); her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great - great grandchildren; she also leaves behind to celebrate her final journey sisters, Mattie Robinson and Annie Lee Dukes; her brother, Robert Jackson (Laura); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that she loved unconditionally; special friends, Irene Drayton, Cora Forney and Mary Mitchell.  She was respected in the eyes of many as a second mother.

Sarah L. Carter's Funeral Home Southside is serving the family.
